Why Choose Mammut’s Stoney Hard Shell Ski Pants?
Hard shell ski pants are perfect for the resort. Their thicker fabric protects against wind and snow to keep you warm even when you are not moving – on the lifts or maybe helping your kids learn to ski.
Mammut has redesigned their Stoney Hard Shell gear this year. They are using 100% recycled material in the fabric – their proprietary 3-layer Dry Tour. This is a thick durable fabric. It does a great job of keeping you comfortable on the slopes.
We tested the Stoney HS Ski Pants on and off the mountain. We took them out in the early season with snowy, windy, low temperature conditions and felt great. The fabric did a great job of blocking out the wind and snow to keep us warm, but not too warm that we overheated while taking on the tough terrain.
We also walked the dog on snowy days in this gear. The cuffs have snaps to tighten up the bottom of the pants to help for extra protection against the snow.
Great Performance Ski Pants for the Resort
Mammut’s Dry Tour fabric not only has great protection against the elements but it is also stretchy and flexible giving you freedom of movement. This is great whether you like bump runs, ungroomed powder trails, swishing through the trees, or hard charged carving down the steeps. We did it all and felt great in these ski pants!
And the fabric is durable. If you do love the trees, you don’t have to worry about branches snagging or pulling the fabric.
Mammut Stoney HS Ski Pants Features
Adjustable Waist and Cuffs
These ski pants have a wide comfortable waistband. There are 2 snaps to secure the waistband and a zip. There are velcro tabs on the outside of the waistband on each side for easy adjustments for more or fewer layers, too much lunch, or if you go on Ozempic or need to share your gear.
The cuffs have snaps at the bottom in case you need the opening around your ankles to be tightened up. This worked for us staying dry while walking in the neighborhood during a snowstorm, or any other time you are wearing these pants without thick ski boots.
Extra Big Pockets and Extra Big Vents
We were very happy with the size of the pockets and the vents on the Mammut Stoney Hard Shell Ski Pants. All the zippers on the Stoney HS Ski Pants are water-repellant and we liked that the side vents had 2-way zippers.
The vents are great and can be opened to a wide range of sizes with the 2-way zipper. We tend to heat up on harder runs so having a large adjustable vent is great – especially when Spring ski season comes around.
Reinforced Cuffs with Cordura Protection
The Cordura patches on the inside bottom of these ski pants give extra protection against ski edges and ski boots. We just tore a pair of ski pants a few weeks ago without this extra reinforcement so we did really appreciate this small detail on the Mammut Stoney HS Ski Pants.
The cuffs also have snow gaiters on the inside, with a non-slip grip.
Price/Value of the Mammut Stoney HS Ski Pants
At around $350 the Mammut Stoney Hard Shell Ski Pants come in at a much lower price than our other favorite pants from Arc’teryx. From our testing the Mammut Stoney HS Ski Pants provide great comfort and performance for resort skiing and the materials and construction are durable and long lasting.
We feel they are well worth their price.
Do We Recommend Them?
