The Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer has always been a favorite winter sports mid-layer. We were very happy to hear of its latest update, making this reliable down jacket staple sustainably built. The Ghost Whisperer/2 is now made from 100% recycled 10 D ripstop nylon.
Otherwise, this is still a great performance piece for your outdoor adventures. Super lightweight and packable, you can have it ready in any pack or even a large pocket for weather changes. It is agile as an outer layer, offering full range of movement, and is super comfortable as a mid-layer. It is soft and barely felt, even with a fitted shell over top.
This is a very specific down jacket for sweat-worthy activity in the winter, where weight and breathability are the priorities. It is simple and minimal in all aspects, not just the weight. There are only 2 hand pockets and only one cinch cord at the hem to trap body heat. As we said before, this does make it very packable and easy to carry. But with no stash pockets or hood cinches, it means you will need to wear it along with other gear in the winter.
