The Columbia Alpine Action jacket is a top-notch choice for outdoor enthusiasts looking for a bargain. This jacket has many features you would want on the mountain, although it isn’t overly warm or waterproof.
The nylon material makes for a fit that stretches and is adaptable, however, it makes the jacket not as warm or waterproof as other options that are 100% polyester. Overall, the jacket is quite comfortable, which is a plus. This winter jacket also includes features such as a powder skirt, storm hood, and zippered pockets. It looks like a ski jacket but isn’t bound to keep you warm and dry on the coldest and wettest of days.
Overall, this is a bargain for a Columbia winter jacket. It is lightweight and offers some features of a good winter jacket but not enough that we would recommend you use it in very low temperatures. It definitely doesn’t stack up to more high-quality winter jackets when it comes to warmth.
