Quintessentially Patagonia, the Untracked is a do-everything ski jacket that succeeds as a piece of performance gear and sustainability benchmark in equal parts. This jacket specializes in keeping you warm and dry on the slopes when conditions are decidedly neither warm nor dry.
With well-thought-out features like a helmet-compatible hood, pass-through chest pocket, and soft flannel liner, the Untracked will easily meet the needs of most skiers on any downhill day.
Our reservations regarding the Untracked are few and far between and mostly regard the price, which is in the same ballpark as a new pair of skis. Also of note, even insulation as subtle as the flannel backer included in the Untracked is a hard sell for uphill skiing due to overheating.
With these considerations in mind, we recommend the Untracked to anyone looking for a toasty and terrifically well-made everyday resort jacket.
Things we like:
-
An excellent demonstration of Patagonia’s manufacturing ethics in a quality ski coat
-
Keeps wind and wet weather out in nasty conditions
Things we don't like:
-
Marketed as a backcountry jacket, but we think it might be too warm
-
Really expensive for a single garment
