Spyder Sanction GORE-TEX Shell - Review 2025

Revamped this year, Spyder’s Sanction jacket has a couple of new features that are sure to enhance your backcountry experience.

This backcountry specific shell is constructed with a GORE-TEX laminate on top of a 3-layer polyester shell, offering maximum protection while maintaining breathability. For when you’re really working up a sweat, Spyder has added an underarm ventilation system with fully sealed zippers, maximizing airflow while keeping snow out. A removable powder skirt maximizes protection, keeping snow out of undesirable places and locking in warmth on those extra chilly days.

Large dump pockets on the sides, two added center chest pockets, and a forearm data pocket are all protected with 2-way waterproof YKK AquaGuard zippers, offering ample space to dry out skins, stash snacks, or store layers on the go.

While this top-tier shell from Spyder was designed with the backcountry skier in mind, that is not to say that it can’t be worn in bounds or out on the town. A swiss army knife of jackets, this versatile shell caters to a wide variety of needs.
