Ski gear is expensive. To find the right ski boots, you can spend more on them than most of the rest of your kit. Hybrid boots are a great means of cutting costs for the rising number of skiers interested in backcountry travel, but oftentimes diminish the performance of aggressive inbounds riding.
The Lupo Dalbello is a stiff, aggressive boot. They reduced the weight and added all of the amenities that you’d want for uphill travel. Common amongst these hybrid style boots, they definitely are built with the descent in mind, so don’t expect them to fly up the skin track like a Skimo boot.
As mentioned the Lupo pro has a removable tongue to ease uphill travel. Dalbello touts the fact that you can get it off with one hand, but doesn’t mention that getting it back on can be a hassle, and could potentially be a headache in heavy wind and snow.
Notable Features
Kinetic Response Tongue: Removable tongue allows you to swap for different flexes as conditions change, and removing the tongue while touring makes for a more comfortable hike
